Roses Really Smell Like ...

Amber Rose for the YRB Magazine.

Still trying to figure out how I feel about Amber Rose. I heard her on UStream once when she was talking to Nicki Minaj and she seemed very cute and homegirl. She is by all means evolving into a lil fashion mogul and she's also a naturally pretty girl. To me, this spread is like a slutty Marilyn Monroe doppleganger. We all know Marilyn Monroe was promiscuous but it was almost effortless seduction on top of class and grace. By the looks of Amber Rose's red carpet history, she is surely has "sexy" and edgy taste, but lacking on the classy part. Hmm...well enjoy!

H&M Fashion Against AIDS 2010

How did I miss this whole collection!? I'm a faithful H&M shopper, not only are their prices reasonable but they stay trendy and their merchandise is usually flexible and can be worn differently depending upon one's personal style. Needless to say, I haven't been to H&M in FOREVER, maybe the 2nd to last week of May, but now I know I need to make a visit!

Not only does H&M's Fashion Against AIDS 2010 line create a positive message while shedding awareness about a disease that has and is continuing to affect many communities worldwide, but the collection and fashion ads are gorgeous!

While We're On the Topic of Hair...

Yes, this half-shaved hairstyle is still flourishing. For what reasons, I do not know but nowadays this style has catered to every ethnicity and city across the country. I know alot of people in Boston are fond of this hairstyle, would I ever do it? Of course not. I'm not gutsy like that and I've spent a tremendous amount of time trying to grow my edges and temples out :-)

I am not a fan of this style, but some people have been able to make it look more appealing... preferably when the shaved side is accompanied by a short hair-do. Who would've known Britney Spears could have possibly started a trend...just a little too early.

If you don't like it, then you should put a *razor* on it

Viva Plaits!

Summer is all about playing dirty and washing up later on...by the beach. Okay maybe it's not, but either way the days are long and hot and at times there may feel as though there aren't enough hours in the day to thoroughly wash your hair. Braids are the summer solution! They're a perfect option for hair that may have a day or so's worth of grease and dirt and hold better with your natural oils. They're easy to do, cute and flirty and a perfect way to spruce up a simple outfit.

We've seen these side braids on the runway for Alexander Wang and Miu Miu's Summer 2010 collections as well as fashioned by our favorite celebrities; Kate Bosworth, Thandie Newton and Zoe Kravitz and many more. The key to look is to capture the bohemian essence by sporting a messy plait, but this style is not only limited to free-spirted loosely tressed ladies. Thandie sported her braid with a bow at the end and celebs like Fergie and Leona Lewis have worn their braid with a fishtail braid pattern.

So maybe you aren't the next Rapunzel and don't have long locks or access to extensions like celebrities do. Or maybe the side braid thing isn't bold enough for your eclectic personality, opt for these braided updo options:

What a feminine & ethereal collection! Perfect for warm Spring days and cool May nights. Now I'm REALLY looking forward towards warmer weather. I'm ready to rid my closet of such dark, gloomy winter pieces and add some florals, prints, ruffles and ORGANIC pieces to my style!
